Biography:

John Henry Irons, known as Steel, is a brilliant weapons engineer who first appeared in *Superman* (Vol. 2) #80 (1993). Disgusted with the use of his inventions for destruction, he quits his job and returns to his grandmother's home in Washington D.C.

Inspired by Superman's selfless sacrifice against Doomsday, and armed with a suit of armor he designed himself, Irons takes up the mantle of Steel to protect Metropolis in Superman's absence. His armor grants him superhuman strength, flight, and the ability to project energy blasts.

Irons continues to operate as Steel, a formidable hero in his own right, even after Superman's return. He often collaborates with Superman and other heroes, using his technical expertise and unwavering courage to fight for justice.
