Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III is the protagonist of the "How To Train Your Dragon" franchise, first appearing in the 2010 film *How to Train Your Dragon*. He is the son of Stoick the Vast, the chief of the Viking tribe on the island of Berk.
Initially portrayed as a scrawny and clumsy teenager, Hiccup struggles to fit in with his tribe's dragon-slaying traditions. His ingenuity leads him to invent contraptions, but they often backfire. Everything changes when he shoots down a Night Fury dragon, later named Toothless.
Instead of killing Toothless, Hiccup befriends him, discovering the dragons are misunderstood creatures. He learns to fly with Toothless, bridging the gap between Vikings and dragons. Over the course of the franchise, Hiccup matures into a skilled dragon rider, inventor, and ultimately, the chief of Berk, dedicated to peace and understanding between humans and dragons.
