Newton "Newt" Artemis Fido Scamander is a British wizard, famed magizoologist, and author of the widely acclaimed textbook, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Born in 1897, his fascination with magical creatures began early, nurtured by his mother's breeding of hippogriffs.
Scamander attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he was sorted into Hufflepuff House. Though expelled for endangering a student with a magical creature (though Dumbledore fought for him to be allowed to stay and finish his education) he joined the Ministry of Magic, working in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.
His travels around the world, documented in "Fantastic Beasts," led to the discovery and cataloging of numerous species, contributing significantly to the wizarding world's understanding of magical creatures.
