Newton "Newt" Scamander is a fictional British wizard and magizoologist, primarily known from the film series *Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them*. He is portrayed by Eddie Redmayne.
Scamander is a former Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry student, expelled for endangering human life with a beast, though Albus Dumbledore vouched for him. This occurred prior to the events of the films.
