Argus Filch is the caretaker of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter series, first appearing in *Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone*.

He is a Squib, meaning he was born into a wizarding family but has no magical abilities himself. This contributes to his generally unpleasant demeanor and resentment towards the students, particularly those who break the rules.

Filch is fiercely loyal to Hogwarts and Dumbledore, and is often seen patrolling the corridors with his cat, Mrs. Norris. He frequently tries to catch students in the act of misbehaving, hoping to impose harsh punishments.
