Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, more commonly known as Nearly Headless Nick, is the Gryffindor house ghost at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter series.

He first appears in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Nick earned his nickname due to an inept execution; despite forty-five blows with a blunt axe, his head remained only partially attached to his neck.

As one of the Ghosts of Hogwarts, Nick is a friendly and sociable spirit, though he harbors some resentment for his inability to join the Headless Hunt due to his less-than-complete decapitation.
