Biography:

Hisashi Mitsui is a pivotal character in the basketball-themed anime and manga series, Slam Dunk. He first appears in the series during the Shohoku team's initial formation struggles. Initially presented as a delinquent with a gang of followers, Mitsui harbors a deep-seated resentment towards the basketball team and particularly Akagi, the team captain.

His troubled persona stems from a past as a brilliant junior high basketball player. As the MVP of his junior high team, he credits Coach Anzai with inspiring a game-winning shot. Driven by this gratitude, he joins Shohoku High School hoping to play under Anzai again.

However, a severe knee injury during his freshman year sidelines him, leading to frustration and a gradual descent into delinquency. Mitsui abandons basketball, feeling betrayed by his body and the sport. He wears his Shohoku uniform as a symbol of his lost potential. Ultimately, his confrontation with the basketball team leads to a personal reckoning, and he rejoins the team as shooting guard with the number #14.
