Shocker Rider No. 5, also known as Shiro Kazami, is the protagonist of the 1973 tokusatsu series, Kamen Rider V3. Initially an ordinary university student, Shiro witnesses a Shocker operation and is mortally wounded protecting the original Kamen Riders, Ichigo and Nigo, from a Shocker trap.
To save his life, Riders 1 and 2 perform reconstructive surgery on Shiro, granting him enhanced strength and agility, transforming him into a cyborg. However, they intentionally leave him incomplete, lacking a transformation device, to prevent Shocker from controlling him. This doesn't last.
Unbeknownst to Shiro, Riders 1 and 2 embed the V3 energy system within him. The evil organization Shocker subsequently kidnaps and modifies Shiro to control him and convert him into their own Shocker Rider No. 5.
Through sheer willpower and the latent V3 system, Shiro eventually overcomes Shocker's brainwashing. He fully awakens the V3 powers latent within him, effectively becoming Kamen Rider V3 and subsequently dedicates his life to battling Shocker and its successor organizations, working to protect humanity from their evil plans.
