Dexter Morgan, portrayed by Michael C. Hall, is the central character of the TV show Dexter, first appearing in the series premiere on October 1, 2006. He is a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department.
Secretly, Dexter is a vigilante serial killer. Adopted as a young boy after witnessing his mother's murder, he was taught by his adoptive father, Harry Morgan, to channel his homicidal urges responsibly. Harry created a "code" that directed Dexter to only kill criminals who have escaped justice.
Throughout the series, Dexter struggles to balance his normal life with his dark impulses, navigating relationships and maintaining his carefully constructed facade. He grapples with his identity, attempting to understand and suppress his killer tendencies while maintaining the appearance of a functional member of society.
