Hanamichi Sakuragi is the protagonist of the popular basketball-themed manga and anime series, Slam Dunk. He first appears in the manga's debut issue and subsequently in the first episode of the anime adaptation.
Initially a delinquent with a long history of unrequited love, Sakuragi joins the Shohoku High School basketball team in an attempt to impress Haruko Akagi, a girl he has a crush on. Despite having no prior basketball experience, Sakuragi possesses exceptional athleticism and quickly develops a passion for the sport.
