Arwen Undómiel, an Elf of Middle Earth, is a significant character in J.R.R. Tolkien's *The Lord of the Rings*. She is the daughter of Elrond and Celebrían, and possesses the beauty and grace characteristic of the Elves.
Arwen first appears subtly in *The Fellowship of the Ring* as she travels to Rivendell. Her most notable characteristic is her deep love for Aragorn, a mortal man, which presents her with a difficult choice: to remain immortal in Middle Earth or to forsake her immortality to be with him.
