The Mouth of Sauron is a fictional character from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. He is introduced in the book "The Return of the King", the third volume of *The Lord of the Rings*. He is a herald and lieutenant of Sauron, serving as his ambassador and messenger.
Little is known about his origins, except that he was a man of the race of Black Númenóreans who entered Sauron's service and rose to a position of power through cruelty and cunning. He is depicted as a tall, imposing figure clad in black armor, riding a fearsome horse.
His primary role in the story is to meet with the representatives of the free peoples – Aragorn, Gandalf, and others – before the Battle of the Morannon. He attempts to demoralize them by presenting Frodo Baggins' Mithril coat and other items suggesting Frodo is dead, hoping to convince them to surrender. His efforts fail, and the armies clash.
