Taneleer Tivan, known as The Collector, is an ancient being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe obsessed with acquiring rare and unique objects and life forms.

He operates a vast museum housing his collection, often obtained through questionable means. His motivations stem from a prescient fear of future cosmic threats, leading him to hoard specimens he believes could be crucial for survival.

The Collector's first MCU appearance was in a post-credits scene in the film Thor: The Dark World (2013), played by actor Benicio del Toro. He subsequently appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) where his collection was shown in detail.
