Small Green Pea
Theme:
The Lord of the Rings
Biography:
Éowyn, Lady of Rohan, is a fictional character in J.R.R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings. She first appears in The Two Towers, the second volume of the trilogy.
Éowyn is the niece of King Théoden of Rohan and sister to Éomer. Orphaned as a child, she grew up in Edoras and bore the responsibility of caring for her ailing uncle. She is known for her beauty, courage, and a desire for glory and independence.
Feeling trapped by her duty and frustrated by the limitations placed upon her as a woman, Éowyn yearns to participate in the war against Sauron. Disguised as a man and calling herself Dernhelm, she secretly rides with the Riders of Rohan to the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
During the battle, Éowyn confronts and slays the Witch-king of Angmar, fulfilling a prophecy that he would not be slain by any man. After the war, she finds love with Faramir, the Steward of Gondor, and they settle down to rule Ithilien.
