Voltron is the titular giant robot formed by the combination of five robotic lions, featured in the animated television series Voltron Defender of the Universe.
The lions, each piloted by a member of the Voltron Force, combine to create the powerful robot warrior. The first appearance of this version of Voltron was in the syndicated TV series Voltron Defender of the Universe in September, 1984.
The Voltron Force pilots, each with a corresponding lion color, are tasked with protecting the galaxy from various threats. Voltron is known for its Blazing Sword, a powerful weapon used to defeat enemies.
