Ponda Baba, also known as "Walrus Man" due to his distinctive appearance, is a minor but memorable character from the Star Wars universe.
He first appeared in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) in the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine.
Baba, an Aqualish thug, was portrayed as a belligerent patron of the cantina. He, along with his companion Dr. Evazan, accosted Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. This confrontation led to Obi-Wan famously disarming Ponda Baba with his lightsaber after Baba threatened Luke.
The character is primarily known for this brief, violent encounter and his unfortunate encounter with a Jedi weapon.
