Parallax is a parasitic entity in the DC Universe, embodying fear itself. Its origins are linked to the dawn of sentience, where it preyed on nascent emotions.

The creature was imprisoned long ago by the Guardians of the Universe, the founders of the Green Lantern Corps. Its containment was within the Central Power Battery on Oa, the Corps' homeworld. This imprisonment inadvertently tainted the green energy, imbuing it with a degree of fear.

While not directly portrayed as Parallax, Hal Jordan's fall from grace in 2011's "Green Lantern" movie can be seen as an interpretation of the influence of the entity.
