Biography:
Parallax is a parasitic entity in the DC Universe, embodying fear itself. It is an ancient being, predating the Guardians of the Universe and the Green Lantern Corps.
Originally sealed away on Oa, Parallax's influence corrupts Green Lantern Hal Jordan following the destruction of Coast City. Driven mad with grief and manipulated by Parallax, Jordan slaughters the Green Lantern Corps in his attempt to rebuild his city, becoming the villain known as Parallax.
As Parallax, Jordan decimates the Green Lantern Corps and drains the Central Power Battery of its energy, effectively crippling the Green Lanterns. He seeks to remake the universe to his liking during the "Zero Hour" event.
Eventually, Hal Jordan is redeemed and sacrifices himself to reignite the sun during the "Final Night" storyline. Later, it is revealed that Parallax was the true source of Jordan's actions, retconning his villainous turn.
Parallax is later separated from Jordan and serves as a key antagonist in several Green Lantern storylines, continuing to embody fear and corrupt those susceptible to its influence.
