Biography:
The Hamburgler is a fictional character used in McDonald's advertising campaigns. He first appeared in 1971, as part of the McDonaldland commercials.
Originally conceived as a short, hunched figure with stringy hair, a wide grin, and a burglar-like mask, the Hamburgler's defining characteristic is his insatiable craving for hamburgers. He is constantly attempting to steal McDonald's hamburgers, often uttering his signature phrase, "Robble robble!"
Over the years, the Hamburgler's appearance has been revamped several times. A more modern, mischievous version was introduced in 1985, sporting a red-and-white striped jumpsuit and a more youthful demeanor. He was briefly reintroduced in 2015 with a "hipster" makeover, causing both nostalgia and controversy.
Despite these variations, the Hamburgler remains a recognizable and enduring part of McDonald's marketing history, representing a comedic foil to the brand's offerings. His primary role is that of a lovable, though ultimately unsuccessful, antagonist.
