Captain Universe is not a single person, but rather the host for the Uni-Power, a cosmic energy that bonds with individuals in times of crisis to grant them incredible abilities. This transformation turns the host into Captain Universe, a being of immense power.

The Uni-Power is believed to be a sentient energy, connected to the Microverse. It chooses hosts who possess the necessary strength of character and the will to overcome extraordinary challenges. Captain Universe's powers include superhuman strength, speed, flight, and the ability to manipulate energy.

While many individuals have become Captain Universe, including Spider-Man and Daredevil, the character's first appearance was in Micronauts #8 (1979). Each host embodies the Uni-Power for a specific purpose, often to prevent a catastrophe or resolve a significant threat. Once the crisis is averted, the Uni-Power departs, leaving the host to return to their normal life.
