Mr. Mxyzptlk (sometimes spelled Mxyztplk) is an imp from the 5th Dimension in DC Comics. He possesses reality-warping powers of immense scale, essentially allowing him to do anything he imagines. His appearances are often mischievous and chaotic, using his abilities for pranks and games rather than outright malevolence.
Mr. Mxyzptlk made his first appearance in Superman #30 (September 1944).
A key aspect of the character is that he can only be banished back to his home dimension by tricking him into saying or spelling his own name backwards. After doing so, he is banished from the earthly plane of existence for a time.
