James Paul McCartney, born June 18, 1942, is an English singer-songwriter, musician, and composer who gained worldwide fame as co-lead vocalist and bassist for the Beatles.
Alongside John Lennon, McCartney formed one of the most influential and successful songwriting partnerships in music history. He wrote or co-wrote numerous iconic Beatles songs, including "Hey Jude," "Let It Be," and "Yesterday."
Following the Beatles' breakup in 1970, McCartney embarked on a successful solo career, forming the band Wings with his wife Linda McCartney. He continued to release critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums throughout his career.
McCartney is a multi-instrumentalist, primarily known for his melodic bass playing and songwriting. He's also a noted animal rights activist and advocate for music education.
His contributions to music have earned him numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Awards, Brit Awards, and an Academy Award. He remains a prominent figure in popular culture, touring and recording new music well into his 80s.
