Ringo Starr was the drummer for the Beatles, a British rock band formed in Liverpool. He joined the band in 1962, replacing Pete Best.
He appeared as himself in the Beatles' film, *A Hard Day's Night* (1964), a comedic and fictionalized depiction of a few days in the life of the group.
Starr's drumming style, personality, and contributions to songwriting helped define the Beatles' sound. He remained with the band until their breakup in 1970, and continued to have a solo career.
