Biography:

William "Bootstrap Bill" Turner Sr. is a character from the *Pirates of the Caribbean* film franchise. He first appears in *Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl* (2003), played by David Bailie.

Bootstrap Bill was a sailor aboard the *Black Pearl* under Captain Jack Sparrow. He was ultimately cursed along with the rest of the crew after taking treasure from Isla de Muerta.

Later, he defies Captain Barbossa, sending a piece of the cursed treasure to his son, William Turner Jr. This act of defiance results in him being thrown overboard by Barbossa and his crew.

Due to the curse, he cannot die and ends up serving Davy Jones aboard the *Flying Dutchman*. He eventually becomes part of the ship itself.
