Biography:
William "Bootstrap Bill" Turner is a fictional character from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. He first appears in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), though only briefly.
Bootstrap Bill was a crew member of the pirate ship the Black Pearl under Captain Jack Sparrow. He was ultimately betrayed and cursed along with the rest of the crew by stealing treasure from Isla de Muerta. He was later thrown overboard by his fellow crew members for defending Jack Sparrow.
After washing ashore, he made a deal with Davy Jones to escape death, becoming a crewmember of the Flying Dutchman for one hundred years of service. He gradually lost his humanity, merging with the ship itself over time.
