Sean Cassidy, known as Banshee, is a mutant superhero from Marvel Comics. Born in County Mayo, Ireland, he possesses a sonic scream, a powerful vocal ability that allows him to fly, generate concussive blasts, and perform other sonic feats.

Banshee's early life was marked by tragedy. His parents died when he was young, and he was raised by his cousin, Black Tom Cassidy. He later joined Interpol, using his powers in law enforcement.

He was recruited by Professor Charles Xavier to join the X-Men. Initially reluctant, Banshee eventually embraced his role as a superhero and became a dedicated member of the team, known for his strategic thinking and experience. He has also served as a mentor to younger mutants.

Banshee has experienced significant personal losses, including the death of his wife, Maeve Rourke, and the initial presumption that his daughter, Siryn, had also perished. Despite these hardships, he remained a powerful force for good.
