Biography:
The Witch-king of Angmar, also known as the Lord of the Nazgûl, is a prominent antagonist from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. He first appears in The Fellowship of the Ring as the leader of the Ringwraiths.
Once a king of Men, he was corrupted by one of the nine Rings of Power given to mortal kings by Sauron. This Ring twisted him into a wraith, a terrifying undead servant bound to Sauron's will. He became Sauron's second-in-command and most powerful lieutenant.
As the Witch-king, he commanded Sauron's forces in the north of Middle-earth, establishing the realm of Angmar and warring against the Dúnedain of Arnor. He is famously known for his prophecy: "No living man may hinder me!" He was ultimately defeated during the War of the Ring by Éowyn, who, with the assistance of Merry Brandybuck, fulfilled the prophecy by revealing herself to be a woman and not a man.
