Firefly is a DC Comics villain, primarily known as an adversary of Batman. His first appearance was in Detective Comics #184 (June 1952).
Garfield Lynns is the original Firefly, a special effects expert with pyromaniac tendencies. He was originally portrayed as someone who used lighting effects to commit crimes.
In later interpretations, Firefly's origin story was revamped. He becomes a disgruntled pyrotechnics expert who, after being fired, turns to arson. He designs a fireproof suit equipped with a flamethrower and wings, allowing him to fly and wreak havoc.
The Firefly Animated version is often portrayed with an enhanced suit and an almost maniacal obsession with fire, leading him to commit acts of arson across Gotham City.
