Disco Scarecrow
Basename:
Scarecrow (DC)
Brand:
Brick Sanity
Year:
2017
Theme:
DC
Biography:
Disco Scarecrow is a relatively obscure and short-lived DC Comics villain who appeared in a single issue, Batman Family #16 (1978).
His real name is unknown. He's essentially a parody of both the Scarecrow and the disco culture prevalent at the time of his creation. He wears a scarecrow-like costume, but adorned with glitter and platform shoes, and wields a "boogie stick" which emits a sonic blast that forces people to dance uncontrollably.
In his sole appearance, Disco Scarecrow attempts to rob a disco, using his boogie stick to incapacitate Batman and Robin by forcing them to dance. He's ultimately defeated through a combination of Batman's resourcefulness and his own clumsiness. After slipping on the dance floor, Batman easily apprehends him.
He is not considered a major Batman villain and is largely remembered as a humorous, if dated, footnote in the character's history. He hasn't appeared in mainstream DC continuity since that initial appearance, though he's occasionally referenced in meta and humorous contexts.
