Biography:
Four, also known as Tobias Eaton, is a pivotal character in the Divergent film series and the book series by Veronica Roth. He is portrayed by Theo James.
Born into the Abnegation faction, which values selflessness, Tobias is the son of Evelyn Johnson-Eaton and Marcus Eaton. He endured severe abuse at the hands of his father, leading him to transfer to Dauntless, the faction valuing bravery, at the Choosing Ceremony. It is during this transfer he takes on the name "Four," a reference to the number of fears he faced during his Dauntless initiation.
In Dauntless, Four becomes a leader and instructor, training new initiates. He possesses a strong moral compass and a deep-seated distrust of authority, particularly the Erudite faction, whom he sees as power-hungry.
Four is revealed to be Divergent, possessing aptitudes for multiple factions, which makes him a threat to the established faction system. He forms a romantic relationship with Beatrice "Tris" Prior, also Divergent, and together they fight against the injustices and conspiracies within their society.
