Biography:
Ace Frehley, born Paul Daniel Frehley on April 27, 1951, is an American musician best known as the original lead guitarist and co-founding member of the rock band Kiss.
He adopted the "Space Ace" persona, complete with signature makeup and costumes, becoming a fan favorite for his guitar solos and onstage antics. Frehley's guitar playing style is characterized by its melodic phrasing and blues-rock influences, evident on classic Kiss tracks such as "Cold Gin" and "Shock Me," the latter of which he also sang lead vocals on.
Frehley left Kiss in 1982 to pursue a solo career. His debut solo album, Ace Frehley (1978), was a commercial success. He formed his own band, Frehley's Comet, in the mid-1980s. He rejoined Kiss for reunion tours in the 1990s and 2000s, but has since pursued his solo work again. He has released several solo albums since the 2000s.
Frehley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Kiss in 2014. Despite sometimes tumultuous relationships with his former bandmates, Ace Frehley remains an influential figure in rock music, inspiring generations of guitarists.
