Michael James Way, known professionally as Mikey Way, is an American musician best recognized as the bassist for the rock band My Chemical Romance.
Born September 10, 1980, in Newark, New Jersey, Mikey significantly influenced his older brother Gerard Way's interest in music, which ultimately led to the formation of My Chemical Romance.
Mikey is credited with suggesting the band's name, inspired by Irvine Welsh's book *Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance*. He played bass for My Chemical Romance from its inception in 2001 until their initial breakup in 2013 and rejoined upon their reunion in 2019.
Beyond My Chemical Romance, Mikey has also been involved in other musical projects, including Electric Century, where he served as the band's vocalist and bassist. He has also collaborated with various artists throughout his career.
