Cersei Lannister is a central character in George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, adapted into the HBO television show, "Game of Thrones." She is a member of House Lannister, one of the Great Houses of Westeros, known for their wealth and power.

Born the eldest child and only daughter of Lord Tywin Lannister, Cersei was raised with a strong sense of entitlement and ambition. She harbored a desire to wield power directly, but societal constraints confined her to a primarily political role through marriage.

Cersei married King Robert Baratheon, a union that produced three children: Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen. However, their union was unhappy and loveless, and it became clear that these children were not Robert's but the product of an incestuous relationship with her twin brother, Jaime Lannister.
