Hoban "Wash" Washburne was the pilot of the Serenity in the science fiction television series Firefly and the subsequent film Serenity. Played by Alan Tudyk, Wash was known for his exceptional piloting skills, sarcastic wit, and love of toy dinosaurs.

Prior to joining Captain Malcolm Reynolds and the crew of Serenity, Wash was a pilot in the Unification War. Though his allegiance isn't explicitly stated, his experiences likely shaped his cynical outlook on authority and his desire for independence.

He was married to Zoe Alleyne Washburne, Serenity's first mate, and their relationship provided much of the series' humor and heart. Wash's playful personality often clashed with Zoe's stoic demeanor, creating a dynamic that was both endearing and entertaining.
