Biography:
Mal, short for Maleficent, is a fictional character appearing in Disney's *Descendants* franchise.
She is the daughter of Maleficent, the villain from *Sleeping Beauty*. Mal begins the series as a rebellious teenager living on the Isle of the Lost, a prison island for Disney villains.
Along with three other villain kids (Carlos, Evie, and Jay), Mal is chosen to attend Auradon Prep, a school for the children of Disney heroes. Initially, Mal's primary goal is to steal the Fairy Godmother's wand to free her mother.
Throughout the *Descendants* films and shorts, Mal undergoes a significant transformation. She grapples with her inherited villainous tendencies while striving to forge her own path. Ultimately, she embraces her good side and becomes a leader and protector of both Auradon and the Isle of the Lost. She is romantically linked to Ben, the son of Belle and the Beast, eventually becoming his queen.
