Biography:
River Tam is a complex character from the science fiction television series *Firefly*, first appearing in the episode "Serenity" (2002). She is portrayed by actress Summer Glau.
River is a teenage genius who was subjected to horrific experiments by the Alliance, a powerful governing body. These experiments amplified her psychic abilities but left her mentally unstable and prone to unpredictable behavior.
She becomes a fugitive, rescued by her brother Simon Tam, who abandons his promising medical career to protect her. They seek refuge aboard the spaceship Serenity, where River struggles to cope with her fragmented memories and heightened perception of danger, while the crew tries to understand and protect her.
