Biography:
Jake E. Blues, often called "Joliet" Jake, is a fictional character and one half of the musical duo, The Blues Brothers. He's most famously portrayed by John Belushi in the 1980 film The Blues Brothers and its 1998 sequel, Blues Brothers 2000.
Jake is introduced as being released from Joliet Correctional Center, hence the nickname. Along with his brother Elwood (Dan Aykroyd), he's compelled by a vision from "The Penguin" (a nun who raised them) to put their band back together and raise $5,000 to save their childhood orphanage from foreclosure.
Throughout the films, Jake is characterized by his signature black suit, sunglasses, and fedora. He's known for his rebellious attitude, penchant for trouble, and dedication to blues music. His antics often involve high-speed chases, property destruction, and run-ins with the law, all in the pursuit of their "mission from God." Jake, despite his flaws, displays a strong sense of loyalty and a desire to do good.
