Luke Skywalker, encountered on Dagobah in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, is a pivotal character in the original Star Wars trilogy. He is the son of Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) and Padmé Amidala, raised as a farmboy on Tatooine unaware of his parentage and connection to the Force.
Following Obi-Wan Kenobi's death and the destruction of the Death Star, Luke travels to Dagobah, guided by Obi-Wan's spirit, to seek out the Jedi Master Yoda for training. He undergoes rigorous physical and mental challenges under Yoda's tutelage, learning to harness the Force and confront his fears.
Luke's training is abruptly cut short when he senses the peril of his friends, Leia and Han, leading him to defy Yoda and travel to Bespin to confront Darth Vader. This decision proves premature, resulting in a brutal lightsaber duel where Luke learns the shocking truth about his lineage and loses his hand. The Dagobah training, though incomplete, lays the foundation for his future growth and eventual confrontation with the Emperor.
