BB-8 (black) is a custom-built astromech droid serving as a companion to the Jedi Padawan Grogu during the New Jedi Order era. His designation denotes both his physical form and his unique stealth capabilities, employing a darkened color scheme. Unlike most astromechs who support piloting and starship maintenance, BB-8 (black)'s modifications primarily focus on reconnaissance, data collection, and discreet information retrieval.
