Lieutenant Commander Theodore Groves is a Royal Navy officer in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. He first appears in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Groves, initially a Lieutenant, serves under Commodore Norrington. He is generally portrayed as competent, dutiful, and somewhat more level-headed than some of his superiors, though he often struggles to fully grasp the more unusual aspects of the pirate world.
He continues to serve in the Royal Navy in subsequent films, rising in rank to Lieutenant Commander. Groves displays a strong sense of duty and loyalty to the crown, even when faced with difficult or morally ambiguous situations.
