Jean-Paul Beaubier, better known as Northstar, is a mutant superhero appearing in Marvel Comics. He is recognizable by his incredible speed, ability to generate light, and being one of Marvel's first openly gay characters.
Northstar debuted in Uncanny X-Men #120 (April 1979) as a member of Alpha Flight, Canada's premiere superhero team. He often clashed with his teammates due to his abrasive personality, which contrasted with his dedication to protecting others.
Northstar's powers stem from his mutant physiology, allowing him to fly at supersonic speeds and emit photonic energy blasts. He is also an Olympic-level skier and athlete.
