Jonathan Archer is a fictional character in the Star Trek universe, primarily known as the captain of the Earth Starfleet vessel Enterprise (NX-01) in the television series Star Trek: Enterprise. He is portrayed by actor Scott Bakula.

Born in 2112, Archer hails from Upstate New York and is the son of Henry Archer, a key figure in the development of Earth's warp drive technology. He follows in his father's footsteps with a deep passion for space exploration, though he initially harbors resentment towards Vulcans for their perceived obstruction of humanity's progress.

In 2151, Archer is given command of Enterprise, Earth's first warp 5 starship. His mission is to explore the galaxy and make first contact with new species. Over the course of the series, Archer evolves from a somewhat impulsive and skeptical leader to a respected and seasoned captain. He plays a crucial role in the formation of the United Federation of Planets.

Later in his life, Archer becomes a prominent political figure, serving as Earth's ambassador to Andoria and eventually becoming President of the United Federation of Planets from 2184 to 2192.
