Chell is the silent protagonist of the Portal video game series developed by Valve Corporation. Little is known about her personal history or background.

She is introduced as a test subject within the Aperture Science Enrichment Center, a highly automated and labyrinthine research facility. Chell's primary objective is to navigate various test chambers, each designed to challenge her spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills using the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device, more commonly known as the portal gun.

Her actions are largely driven by the promise of cake at the end of testing, a reward dangled by GLaDOS, the artificial intelligence overseeing the facility. Throughout the games, Chell displays resourcefulness, tenacity, and remarkable aptitude for manipulating the portal gun, ultimately leading to her escape from Aperture Science.
