Weapon X is a designation given to several characters within the Marvel Comics universe, most notably associated with the character James Howlett, later known as Wolverine.

The Weapon X project was a clandestine operation dedicated to enhancing individuals into living weapons through various means, including genetic manipulation, cybernetic augmentation, and psychological conditioning.

Wolverine's involvement with the Weapon X project resulted in his skeleton being bonded with adamantium, an virtually indestructible metal. This transformation significantly enhanced his strength, durability, and healing factor, turning him into an apex predator.

First appearing as Weapon X in *Marvel Comics Presents* #72 (1991), this version of the character represents a savage and primal stage in Wolverine's life, devoid of memories and driven by instinct.
