Captain Tarpals is a Gungan character from the Star Wars prequel trilogy, first appearing in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999).

Tarpals serves as the captain of the Gungan Royal Guard. He is a loyal and capable warrior, known for his bravery and tactical skills. Initially skeptical of outsiders, Tarpals plays a crucial role in uniting the Gungans with the Naboo people against the Trade Federation invasion.

He later reappears in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, continuing his role in protecting Naboo and working alongside the Jedi. He sacrifices himself to save Jar Jar Binks and General Anakin Skywalker from General Grievous' forces during an invasion of Naboo.
