The Yellow Lantern Corps, initially known as the Sinestro Corps, was founded by the renegade Green Lantern, Thaal Sinestro. Wielding power fueled by fear, they serve as a direct antithesis to the Green Lantern Corps, whose power stems from willpower.
Sinestro, believing fear was the only way to maintain order, forged a yellow power ring on Qward, drawing its energy from the emotional spectrum's fear entity, Parallax. He recruited individuals from across the universe known for their ability to instill great fear in others, building a formidable force.
Notable members besides Sinestro have included Arkillo, a brutal alien warrior, and Lyssa Drak, a keeper of the Book of Parallax. Humans like Amon Sur (son of Abin Sur) and even Batman (briefly) have also wielded yellow rings, highlighting the Corps' diverse and often morally ambiguous composition.
While initially a symbol of villainy and chaos, the Yellow Lantern Corps has, at times, walked a fine line between order and tyranny, raising questions about the effectiveness of fear as a governing force within the DC Universe.
