Doctor Mid-Nite is the name used by several heroes in DC Comics. The first, Charles McNider, debuted in All-American Comics #25 (April 1941).
McNider was a brilliant surgeon blinded by an exploding grenade thrown through his window. He soon discovered he could see perfectly in total darkness, and developed enhanced vision in dim light. Adopting the identity of Doctor Mid-Nite, he fought crime using his unique sight and specialized equipment, including "blackout bombs" to neutralize the vision of his enemies.
Doctor Mid-Nite is often depicted as a founding member of the Justice Society of America. He uses his medical expertise to help his teammates and the wider superhero community. Doctor Mid-Nite fights crime in darkness where he can see perfectly.
