Mr. Terrific is the name used by two separate DC Comics superheroes. The first, Terry Sloane, debuted in 1942. Sloane was a natural polymath, excelling in every endeavor he attempted after becoming disillusioned with his easy successes. He donned the Mr. Terrific persona to help those less fortunate and combat injustice. He possessed no inherent superpowers but relied on his intellect, athletic prowess, and photographic memory.
Following Sloane's death, a new Mr. Terrific, Michael Holt, emerged. Also exceptionally intelligent, Holt held multiple doctorates and was a self-made millionaire. Devastated by the death of his wife, he was inspired by the Spectre to embrace Sloane's legacy. Holt, like Sloane, has no superpowers, but he is a master of martial arts, possesses a genius-level intellect, and is an expert in technology. He utilizes a "T-Sphere," a multi-purpose device capable of cloaking, communication, and offensive/defensive maneuvers.
Both versions of Mr. Terrific are driven by a desire to use their extraordinary abilities to improve the world around them, serving as beacons of hope and champions of the underdog.
