Vampirella is a comic book character created by Forrest J Ackerman and comic book artist Trina Robbins, first appearing in Vampirella #1 (September 1969), published by Warren Publishing.
Originally, Vampirella's backstory described her as hailing from the planet Drakulon, a world where blood flowed instead of water. When Drakulon's rivers of blood dried up, Vampirella journeyed to Earth in search of an alternative source of sustenance.
Warren Publishing's version of Vampirella established her as a powerful and often morally ambiguous figure. While she initially sought human blood to survive, she typically targeted the wicked and monstrous. She became a popular figure in horror comics, known for her iconic costume and mature themes.
