Agent Liberty is a DC Comics superhero, primarily associated with Superman. Created by Dan Jurgens, he first appeared in Superman (Vol. 2) #20 in 1988.
His secret identity is Benjamin "Ben" Lockwood, a former CIA agent who became disillusioned with the government. Feeling it was corrupt and ineffective in protecting the nation, Lockwood adopted the Agent Liberty persona to operate outside the law.
Agent Liberty's powers stemmed from a special suit that granted him enhanced strength, speed, and flight. He often used his abilities to combat threats both foreign and domestic, frequently clashing with Superman due to their differing philosophies.
Over the years, Agent Liberty has been portrayed as both a hero and an anti-hero. He has gone through periods of alignment with Superman, as well as periods of outright opposition. The character's motivations are typically rooted in a strong, albeit sometimes misguided, sense of patriotism and a desire to protect American ideals.
He has also been featured in various media adaptations, including the Arrowverse television series Supergirl, where he was portrayed as a more antagonistic figure.
